September House Posts Schedule

September House, 1251 W. King St., York, has posted its upcoming schedule of activities. A free lunch is available on weekdays for any York County resident at least 60 years of age. For more information, readers may call 717-848-4417.

A game night on will take place on Friday, Aug. 30, from 2 to 8 p.m. It will feature group games and board, card and table games. Attendees may also bring their own games. There will be a potluck, and anyone bringing food is asked to call Marie at 717-848-4417 to register.

On Wednesday, Aug. 21, the Old Testament Great Courses lecture series will continue at 10:30 a.m. with "The Jacob Saga." Scrapbooking will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 22, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; attendees may bring photos and projects or just observe. Also on Aug. 22, the amateur (ham) radio group will meet at 1 p.m. to discuss its field day and plan for its next event.

Fit N Fun exercise is offered every day, and Exercise Bingo will be played on Friday, Aug. 23. "God's Not Dead: A Light in the Darkness" will be shown on Aug. 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. Susan will offer free sweet treats during the movie.

York Revolution will offer Hunger-Free Mondays. A group will meet to carpool to the games. For a donation of a can of nonperishable food, attendees will receive a ticket to the game on Monday, Aug. 26.

Games are played throughout the week. Bingo is played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:45 p.m., with the first card free, and on Wednesdays for all cash as a fundraiser, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and bingo starting at 6:30 p.m. The center offers shuffleboard on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m., and additional players are being sought. All are welcome to play or watch. Board games, cards and jigsaw puzzles are also available.

Volunteers are sought to deliver hot meals to home-bound seniors. The center delivers the meals three mornings a week. This is an unpaid position, but training will be provided and volunteer mileage may be tax deductible.
