September House will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29.
After Thanksgiving, the September House will put up a Christmas tree and decorate for the holidays. Everyone is encouraged to help decorate. Entertainer Kerry White will perform a holiday program on Friday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m.
The Feed the Vets of York County cookie walk will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14. On Dec. 13, the center will bake cookies to donate. The event will feature various types of homemade cookies and candies. Attendees will receive a take-home container to fill with any of the cookies that they choose. The container will be weighed, and partcicipants will pay a set price per pound. Funds raised will be used for the September House Christmas Day dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 25. The free meal will be provided by the Local Feed the Vets of York County. All are welcome to attend.
The center is still offering its perpetual calendar craft. Specific dates and times will be announced, and individuals are welcome to make a plastic canvas calendar. The center offers several card clubs, and new members are welcome to join. The pinochle group meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Canasta or 500 Bid is played on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m, and bridge is played on Fridays from 10:30 a.m to 2 p.m. The groups welcome new members and will to teach them how to play. Ham radio classes are held on Thursdays for those obtaining a technician's license from 1 to 2 p.m. or from 2 to 3 p.m. for a general license. The free classes are open to enthusiasts of all ages.
On selected Fridays in December, the center will continue its Bible study on "Experiencing God" from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. This is a member-led program, and everyone is invited to observe or share.
Each week, there will be regular activities and an opportunity to play games as time allows. The center offers shuffleboard on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m., and new players are welcome. Participants may sit and watch, learn and play, and all are encouraged to participate. Bingo is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:45 p.m., and the first card is free. On Wednesdays, the center offers bingo as a fundraiser. Doors open at 5 p.m., and bingo begins at 6:30 p.m. The center also offers a variety of board games, cards, and jigsaw puzzles.
