September House Sets Schedule

September House, 1251 W. King St., York, has posted its upcoming schedule of activities. A free lunch is available on weekdays for any York County resident at least 60 years of age. For more information, readers may call 717-848-4417 or view the senior center's Facebook page.

The senior center is planning a night out at Hoss's on White Street in York as a fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 8. In preparation for the event, the center is selling gift cards, which will be ordered no later than Monday, Nov. 4, in time for buyers to use for the November event. The center will receive a portion of the proceeds from gift card sales; funds will be used to help provide programs for seniors. Readers may call Marie at the center for more information.

The movie "Runaway Bride" will be shown from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13. Free sweet treats will be served during the movie.

The center will have its final picnic at John Rudy Park on Monday, Sept. 16, starting at 10 a.m. A picnic lunch will be provided, and additional food will be brought to share. Sign-ups are required.

On Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 9 to 11 a.m., there will be an opportunity to make pebble art under the direction of Linda, a member and crafter. At 11 a.m., Now You Have It will be played, and participants should bring a $1 gift to exchange. From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., there will be a planning meeting for the start of a new program called Good Eats, which may offer recipe exchanges, group food preparation, support in planning healthier diets, and individual diet plans for healthier eating.

On Wednesday, Sept. 18, exercising (dancing) to music will be offered starting at 10 a.m. Participants will practice old and new dances.

The monthly planning meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19, at 10:30 a.m. All are invited to participate in making suggestions and sharing ideas.

The Fit 'N' Fun activity on Friday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. will be exercise bingo.

Every week the center holds regular activities and plays games as time allows. Shuffleboard is played on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m., and new players are being sought. All are welcome to play or watch.

The bridge club will resume on Friday, Sept. 13, and will meet every Friday at 10:30 a.m. Pinochle is played on Mondays from 1 to 3 p.m., with 500 bid and canasta on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m.

Bingo is played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:45 p.m., with the first card free, and on Wednesdays for all cash as a fundraiser, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and bingo starting at 6:30 p.m. Board games, cards, and jigsaw puzzles are also available.
