On Monday, March 4, the center is planning a Sock Hop and PJ day. Attendees may dress comfortably and dance to the music at various times throughout the day.
Circus crafts will be offered from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, and Wednesday, March 6.
The Feed the Vets group will visit on Thursday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to noon to show center members how to crochet mats for the homeless. The mats are crafted from plastic grocery bags, and the center is collecting grocery bags for the project, as it takes about 750 to do one mat.
On Friday, March 8, center attendees will watch a movie after lunch at 12:45 p.m.
Free bingo for seniors is offered every Tuesday and Thursday starting at 12:45 p.m., and everyone is a winner. Those who like to play bingo for cash may attend the center's fundraiser every Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m., where all prizes are cash and game cards can be purchased. Doors open at 5 p.m. for purchasing and eating from a special menu.
During the remainder of the week, the center will offer its regular activities and playing games as time allows. The center offers a Tang Soo Do (Korean martial arts) program every Monday and Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. This instruction, taught by a certified teacher, is offered at varying levels, and benefits may include increased stamina, flexibility, mental acuity, agility, and more. New students are welcome. For a more relaxed daily workout, individuals may participate in the center's daily program from 10 to 10:30 a.m. that features light exercises.
Cards and games will be offered throughout the week. Pinochle is played every Monday from 1 to 4 p.m. Chess is played on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m., a group plays 500 bid. Bridge club meets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays. The center also sets up to play shuffleboard on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Wood burning classes/workshops are held on the first and third Fridays.
York County residents age 60 and over are invited to visit and take a short tour of the center to meet the staff and members, and they may stay for a free lunch and participate in activities.
