Lancaster County (Lanco) Senior Softball will host its All-Star Game on Friday, June 21, at 6 p.m. at Garrett Field, located at the corner of Penn Grant Road and Route 272 North, Willow Street.

The public is invited to attend this annual event, which is held to benefit the county's Challenger Little League (LL) and to showcase the talent of the All-Stars who have been selected from the 13 teams in Lanco Senior Softball. There will be drawings for door prizes, which will be distributed between innings. Food and beverages will be available. Lancaster Barnstormers announcer John Witwer will announce the evening's events, which will be attended by Cylo, the Barnstormers' mascot.

The All-Stars include Steve Gamden, Ken Horting, Dave Morrison, Vince Avalone, Jim Hertzler, Kel Zook, Ken Fuhrman, Fred Myers, Eric Kronaweiter, Joe Ives, Jerry Witmer, Kevin Wenger, Dave Dean, Tom Oberly, Steve Ober, Phil Maxey, Terry Kreider, John King, Jeff Rule, and Jeff Singer. Randy Cooper will manage the Green All-Star Team. Lanco Senior Softball president Don Frank Sr. will manage the Red All-Star Team.

According to Frank, each team donated $100 for the Challenger LL program, which provides an opportunity for children with disabilities to play baseball. This year, the league will donate $2,000 to the Challengers, enabling the Challengers to provide uniforms and equipment at no cost to players.

Lanco Senior Softball was established in 1989. This year, the league consists of 13 teams with more than 250 players age 60 years of age and up.

The evening will commence with a check presentation to the Challenger LL, followed by the singing of the national anthem by 4-year-old Wrightsville native Landon Mak and the All-Star activities. After the completion of the game's second inning, there will be a two-inning exhibition game of the Challenger LL. The remainder of the Lanco Senior Softball game will continue after the exhibition.
