Farmers are invited to a Soil Fertility Workshop to brush up on important soil fertility concepts and practices. The half-day workshop will be offered on Friday, March 20, from 9 a.m. to noon at the new York County Extension Office, 2401 Pleasant Valley Road, York. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Extension staff will present an overview of soil fertility, demonstrate the best way to collect soil samples, discuss the nitrogen management process, and walk through fertilizer forms and rates. Time will be set aside during the workshop when participants can ask questions about their own soil test results.
There is a nominal cost for the workshop, which includes a light lunch. Walk-ins will be accepted. Attendees should make sure to bring their soil test results to get the most out of the discussion. Readers may call Heidi Reed at 717-472-8108 for more information. PA Act 38 Nutrient Management Credits and Certified Crop Adviser Credits will also be available.
