Sparrow Place is a 501(c)(3) faith-based nonprofit in York County dedicated to fighting for victims and survivors of sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. It is challenging 100 "Champions of Freedom" to partner with it by committing to donate $10 a month to power Sparrow Place's model of healing and restoration for at-risk and exploited women.
The organization's model includes Sparrow Landing, a transitional drop-in center in York City where women will be able to go for acceptance, conversation, basic needs, advocacy, relational support, and most of all, genuine love. It will be an open door space where their journey to a new normal can begin.
Sparrow Place is also working to establish a social enterprise, Paper & Roots, with the specific purpose of providing emotional and economic healing for its artisans. Sexually exploited women will have access to dignified work that provides a fair living wage and puts them on the path to economic independence.
Finally, the organization is seeking a house to open as a safe, voluntary residential restorative program for women who are ready to put in the time and effort needed to heal. Sparrow Place will be a two-year, rent-free, home environment based on the community living model of Thistle Farms.
