SPCA Receives Grant

The Montgomery County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), 19 E. Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, has received a grant for more than $81,160 from the Arthur E. Pflaumer Fund of The Philadelphia Foundation to support its general operating costs. Carmen J. Ronio, executive director, said that the funds would be used for general program support.

Montgomery County SPCA was founded in 1909 to care for sick and unwanted animals in Montgomery County. Currenty, the organization takes in lost and unwanted animals and finds them homes; presents humane education and pet therapy programs to approximately 12,000 people annually; employs three Humane Society police officers to investigate animal cruelty, neglect, and hoarding cases; and has two veteranarians on staff to perform spays and neuters and provide medical assistance to all animals in Montgomery County.
