Spring Carnival Planned

May 04, 2019 - 10:00 am

The 2018 Steps to Success Early Learning Center Spring Carnival in Leola raised nearly $1,000 for the organization. This year, organizer Tracie Hanson, assistant and curriculum director at Steps to Success, is hoping to surpass that goal. "Funds raised by the carnival will be used to purchase classroom supplies," said Hanson.

The free spring carnival will be held at Steps to Success, 56 Hillcrest Ave., Leola, on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to a silent auction, the event will feature face painting, entertainment, a bounce house, and carnival-style games. Food items will be available for purchase, as well.

A focus of the event will be games for children to enjoy. "We will have everything from skill games to fish pond games," said Hanson, who noted that obstacle courses, face painting, and entertainment suitable for children will also be offered. "It will be a lot of fun for the little ones," she added.

Hungry attendees will have opportunities to buy refreshments, including hot dogs, chips, cookies, baked goods, and beverages.

According to Hanson, a number of area businesses have donated items for the silent auction. Experiences that will be auctioned will include Christian theater tickets, dinner theater tickets, and gift cards. "We have several donations from throughout the county," said Hanson. "They're still coming in." Hanson hopes to have at least 60 items up for bids in the silent auction, which will open at 10 a.m. Winners will be announced at 12:45 p.m.

Steps to Success provides preschool and day care services in addition to prekindergarten classes. Readers who would like to know more about Steps to Success or the upcoming carnival may search on Facebook for "Steps to Success Christian Early Learning Center" or call 717-656-3363.
