Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer programs to the community. Unless otherwise noted, there is a per-person fee for the programs, and activities will take place at the Environmental Center in Lancaster County Central Park, 1 Nature's Way, Lancaster. Additionally, unless noted otherwise, registration and payment are required by noon on the business day before the event. Introduction to Compass Skills will take place on Saturday, March 27, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. People of all ages may attend. Participants will learn how to use a compass and complete practice courses in the Environmental Center vicinity. Attendees should dress for the weather and for covering a couple miles on woodland trails and mowed fields.
A Chickies Rock History Tour for people of all ages will be offered on March 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Chickies Rock County Park. Participants should dress for the weather and plan to cover about 1.5 miles. Participants will meet at the parking lot located at 29 Furnace Road, Marietta.
Full Worm Moon will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 28. Participants will walk in the woods with a naturalist along the creek and around the pond under this first full moon of springtime. The program is open to people of all ages.
A new session of Build a Bluebird Box, for people of all ages, has been set on Monday, March 29, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Central Park's Pavilion 11, 733 Williamson Road, Lancaster. The group will learn about cavity nesting birds that may want to live in the box. Participants should bring a hammer.
Munchkin Science: Fox and Mice, a program for children ages 3 to 5, will run from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 30. Participants will learn the ways of predator-prey relationships.
