The 39th annual spring games of the Special Olympics - York County will take place on Saturday, May 4, at the Grumbacher Center on the campus of York College, 441 Country Club Road, York. The parade of athletes will kick off the event at 9 a.m., followed by opening ceremonies, the lighting of the torch, and the start of the games.
The event will feature competitions in tennis, aquatics, and athletics. The athletes have been training since January.
The public is invited to attend and cheer on the athletes.
Special Olympics - York County provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. All training and competition opportunities are provided free of charge to the athletes and their families. Special Olympics - York County currently has 360 athletes participating in 15 sports programs.
