Nicholas Starr of York is one of 27 students who earned an undergraduate award from McDaniel College, Westminster, Md. Starr received The Philip E. and Ruth Shreeve Uhrig Green and Gold Soccer Achievement Award.
The Philip E. and Ruth Shreeve Uhrig Green and Gold Soccer Achievement Award was established in 2006 by devoted friends Beth Witzke Barnes and L. John Barnes. From 1949 to 1959, Phil Uhrig coached soccer and positively influenced the lives of many soccer players. This award is presented annually to a sophomore or junior member of the soccer team who has best exhibited the highest degree of excellence in sportsmanship, team spirit and an enjoyment of the game, tenacity in play and superior skill, and a consuming desire to win coupled with an ability to lose graciously.
