Tellabration, a worldwide storytelling celebration, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the latest at the Square Bean Carlisle, 25 W. High St., across from the Carlisle Theater. There will be no admission fee.
At this round-robin olio, in the informal back-porch tradition, members of the Susquehanna StoryTellers Guild will share new and traditional stories to be enjoyed by adults and young people, but not small children. Audience members are encouraged to sign up for a chance to tell their own stories too, in a nonjudgmental, open-mic format.
For more information, readers may call Spike Spilker at 717-737-8438. The Square Bean's full menu of food and beverages will be available for purchase. The venue does not sell alcohol, but attendees are permitted to bring their own beverages. On-street parking is free after 4 p.m.
The Susquehanna StoryTellers Guild promotes the art and regular practice of storytelling for people of all ages, from folk tales to personal stories. Its members include storytellers for hire, people who tell for personal enjoyment, and listeners. For information about the guild or to locate and book a storyteller, readers may call Spilker.
