Mount Zion Lutheran Church, 2164 Mount Zion Road, York, The Stravaganza Chamber Ensemble will appear at the church on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 3 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The group will offer a varied program containing works for soloists through full quintets.
Stravaganza was founded by York violinist Katelyn McClinton, who recently received her master's degree in music performance from Towson State University. Other members of the ensemble include Caleb Flick, Sydney Bennett, Hannah Potts, and Ryan Kozak. The group seeks to introduce music of the chamber repertoire with an emphasis on pieces by lesser-known composers. The ensemble will introduce Piano Quintet No. 1 in C Minor by Hungarian composer Ernest Von Dohnanyi. The concert will also include works by Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach.
The public is invited to attend. The program is free, though a freewill offering will be received to benefit the community music series. Concerts are presented throughout the year. The next recital will be held on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 4 p.m., when the church will welcome New Song Gospel Music Ensemble. Additional information is available by calling the church office at 717-757-7626.
