Lower Dauphin School District string musicians in grades five to nine were recently honored by the Dauphin County Music Educators Association (DCMEA). They successfully auditioned, via video, for DCMEA County Orchestra. Instead of an in-person festival, students received a gold, silver, or bronze distinction based on their scores and personalized feedback on their playing from an expert on their instrument.
The students include ninth-graders Marina Weidman, viola, gold distinction; Abigail Foran, viola, gold; and Silas Howard, cello, gold.
In seventh and eighth grades, the honorees are Willow Kristich, violin, silver; Lila Markowitz, violin, silver; Ananya Patil, violin, silver; Lauren Gula, violin, silver; Sasha Jones, violin, bronze; Herth Patel, violin, bronze; Elias Miller, viola, silver; Virginia Huntzinger, viola, silver; Ada Hickey, cello, gold; Hannah Helmer, string bass, bronze; and Maddox Rooney, string bass, bronze.
The sixth-graders who were recognized are Abigail Collins, violin, gold; Sadie Borrelli, violin, gold; Emma Johnson, violin, silver; Rayann Purdy, violin, silver; Harper Lennox, viola, silver; Druthi Naveen, viola, silver; Nina Francis, viola, bronze; Cooper Braman, cello, gold; Makayla Glover, cello, silver; and Brynn Woodall, string bass, bronze.
Several fifth-graders were also recognized. At Conewago Elementary School, Steven Burns, a violinist, won the bronze distinction. At South Hanover Elementary School, the students are Isha Stalin, violin, silver; Kennedy DeBell, violin, silver; Chelsea Gula, cello, bronze; Sai Harshitha Battula, violin, gold; and Isa Medlin, violin, silver.
