Students from Martic and Letort elementary schools recently were honored for artwork they created for the American Heart Association.
Shay Eisenberger, a sixth-grader at Martic, placed third, and Hope Lynn Keller, a fourth-grader at Letort, received an honorable mention in the Heart Heroes contest sponsored in partnership with Penn State Children's Hospital.
Participants were asked to create an illustration of what a Heart Hero looks like to them. Hope Lynn chose her sister, who has had heart surgery, as the subject of her artwork. Shay created a colorful fox character holding a healthy heart.
The students were honored at a reception at Penn State Children's Hospital on May 16.
