Lower Dauphin will be well-represented at the annual Dauphin County Music Educators Association band festival at Harrisburg High School on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 7 and 8.
Representing Lower Dauphin High School will be Lily Nop, flute; Maya Hoover, French horn; Brandon Davis, trumpet; Alaina Riley and Cole Rife, percussion; Daniel Kreiss and Lauren Spada, mallet percussion; Yessenia Reza, clarinet; and Jackson Bruce, alto saxophone.
Lower Dauphin Middle School students who will attend the festival include Ada Howard, flute; Mia Pegher, oboe; Micah Fox, French horn; Jordan Braman, flute; Matilda Carver, flute; Aaron Espenshade, clarinet; Adam Little, baritone saxophone; Carter McQuiddy, trumpet; Anamilley Diaz, trumpet; Dylan Kreiss, percussion; Enzo Dreon, trumpet; Hannah Theuret, trumpet; and Joey Scharmer, baritone.
Representing the district's five elementary schools will be select fifth-graders. From Conewago Elementary School are Lillie Snook, flute; Savannah Ogle, clarinet; and Alex Elicker, horn. From East Hanover Elementary School are William Bell, percussion; Addison Theal, clarinet; Dhruvi Patel, flute; and Cayden Brassell, trumpet. Londonderry Elementary School will be represented by Isaac Elicker, flute; Nova Mayer, French horn; and Lily Mayer, alto saxophone. Students from Nye Elementary School are Matilda McDonald, flute; Aiden Mussoline, trumpet; and Daiwik Singh, trumpet. Representing South Hanover Elementary School will be Christopher Brennenman, flute; Ezra Pearson, flute; and Miranda Raser, trombone.
Additionally, nine Lower Dauphin High School musicians were selected by audition to perform in the Lebanon Valley College Honors Band on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. Representing the school were Daniel Little, tenor saxophone; Natasha Ebersole, trumpet; Ethan Elicker, trumpet; Isaac Fox, clarinet; Avery Price, baritone; Olivia Hulstine, bassoon; Lauren Spada, percussion; Alaina Riley, percussion; and Daniel Kreiss, percussion.
Students at the recent honors band festival were directed by Dr. Christopher J. Heffner, director of bands and associate professor of music at Lebanon Valley College (LVC). This year's ensemble consisted of close to 100 students from school districts across central Pennsylvania. In addition to the festival experience, students were eligible to receive a $10,000 scholarship should they decide to attend LVC.
