Students Compete In Math Tournament

Several Manheim Central Middle School students earned medals at the Lancaster-Lebanon IU 13 Math 24 Tournament on May 14.

Kaleigh Enck won first place overall in the division for fourth and fifth grades out of 135 entrants. Bryce Steach earned second place in the same division, trailing Kaleigh by only 4 points at the final table. In the sixth-grade division, Cameron Thompson made it to the final table, where he placed third. Brycen Armold medaled for the third year in a row by placing third in the division for seventh- and eighth-graders.

Math 24 is a competitive math game that involves a high level of mental math skills. Students must quickly find ways to combine four numbers on cards to make the number 24 using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

The following students represented Manheim Central Middle School at the tournament: fourth-graders Julie Ochner, Tate Garman, Adam Winkler, and Everett Lindberg; fifth-graders Kaleigh Enck, Aubrey Myers, Bryce Steach, and Jarred Stoner; sixth-graders Brayden Fox, Matthew Stephens, and Cameron Thompson; and seventh-graders Brycen Armold, Ethan Smith, and Ky Watson.
