Students Create Through Recycling

Sacred Heart Middle School students have a double period for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) each week. Beginning this school year, students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades spend an hour and a half each week working as a team solving various problems.

Sixth-graders were recently challenged to develop a useful product out of recycled materials. Their products included a refillable dog food container, a basketball hoop to make throwing away trash fun, a special breakfast tray, recycled shoes and bottles and a way to filter rain water and make it useful.
