High School Students Earn Recognition

Lampeter-Strasburg High School recently recognized two seniors and two juniors for their achievements in December 2020. Jacklyn Martin and Jake Long were recognized as Pioneer Superlatives. Vy Nguyen and Cole Younger were named Students of the Month.

Jacklyn is a senior and the daughter of Nancy Martin of Strasburg and Gary Martin. She is the senior class chairperson, a student tutor, and a member of Student Council, STEM Club, National Honor Society, and the distinguished honor roll. Outside of school, she plays AAU basketball. Jacklyn plans to attend UNC Chapel Hill to major in chemistry, with the goal of solving problems regarding plastic pollution and poor road systems.

Jake is a senior and the son of Ellen and Mike Long of Willow Street. He is a member of the baseball team, National Honor Society, and the distinguished honor roll. He plans to attend Washington College to play baseball and study environmental science, with the goal of becoming a marine ecologist.

Vy is a junior and the daughter of Y Thi Nguyen of Lancaster. She enjoys playing badminton outside of school and plans to pursue a career as a veterinarian.

Cole is a junior and the son of Steven and Laura Younger of Lancaster. He is a member of the football team. Outside of school, Cole participates in his church's youth group. He plans to pursue a career in the electrical trade or engineering.
