Students Learn From Holocaust Survivors

After reading "The Diary of Anne Frank," Martin Meylin Middle School eighth-graders had the opportunity to meet two Holocaust survivors with two very different stories.

Linda Schwab, who visited with Joanne Williard's classes, hid with her family from the Nazis in a Belarusian forest for 18 months. Cantor David S. Wisnia delivered a story and song presentation to the entire eighth grade. He spent two and a half years in Auschwitz, surviving only because he was able to entertain the S.S. by singing. Following the presentation, students greeted the speakers, offering them hugs and kind words and taking selfies with them.
