Students Opt To Join Armed Forces

Lower Dauphin High School seniors Calvin Carver and Linda Arredondo Sandoval were recognized for their commitment to join the U.S. Armed Forces in a ceremony in the school auditorium on May 27. Both students will enter the U.S. Army Reserve after graduation.

The son of Holly and Todd Carver, Calvin enlisted over a year and a half ago and has completed Basic Combat Training. He holds the rank of private second class in the U.S. Army Reserve. He will enter Advanced Individual Training this summer, and after completing this program, he would like to switch to active duty and eventually become a combat engineer. At Lower Dauphin, he competed in winter and spring track for three years and was on the football team for a year.

The daughter of Bladimir and Diamantina Arredondo, Linda participated in volleyball, the spring musical, cycling club, and FFA while at the high school. She is considering making a career in the military.
