Students Qualify For State TSA Competition

Twenty-eight Penn Manor students have qualified to compete on the state level after their showing at the Technology Student Association (TSA) regional conference on Feb. 9 at Huesken Middle School. The state conference will be held from Wednesday, April 10, through Saturday, April 13, at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Champion.

Ten students from Manor and Marticville middle schools and 20 Penn Manor High School students competed against their peers from Lancaster, Berks, and Lebanon counties in more than 40 events, ranging from structural design and engineering to extemporaneous presentation.

Penn Manor middle school teams placed first in Biotechnology, Medical Technology, Safety Illustration, and Off the Grid events. The high school teams took top honors in Biotechnology, Extemporaneous and Prepared Presentations, Video Game Design, Webmaster, Safety Illustration, Children's Stories, and Problem Solving events.

Middle school students who qualified to compete at the state conference included: Mitchell Jackson, Kieran McFall, and Anders Murphy, first place, Biotechnology; Suren Clark, Ian Groff, Mitchell Jackson, and Anders Murphy, first place, Medical Technology; Mitchell Jackson, Caden Jacyszyn, and Anders Murphy, first place, Off the Grid; Benjamin Hickey, first place, and Ava Ritchie, third place, Safety Illustration; Suren Clark, second place, Tech Bowl - Written; Suren Clark, Ian Groff, Benjamin Hickey, Caden Jacyszyn, and Noah Reen, second place, Mass Production; Kieran McFall and Ava Ritchie, third place, Problem-Solving; and Suren Clark and Benjamin Hickey, third place, Challenging Technology Issues.
