First Capital Federal Credit Union has announced Rachel Ritchey and Sonia Kumar as the 2019 Dennis Flickinger Honorable Scholarship winners. Both winners received checks for $1,000 to be used towards their first year of schooling.
Rachel, of West York Area High School, will enter Millersville University this fall and pursue a degree in communications and musical theater. Rachel was in the National Honor Society and participated in Student Council, choir, and musicals. She volunteers at children's theater camps and with the local Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Teen Task Force.
Sonia, of Central York High School, will enter Case Western Reserve University in the fall and pursue a degree in biomedical engineering. Sonia aspires to work in the medical device industry. Sonia was a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Science and Math National Honor Societies. She volunteers at Wellspan York Hospital as well as at the Natyashala School of Dance.
The First Capital scholarship program was renamed after Dennis Flickinger in 2016 to honor the former CEO, who retired in 2015.
