Solanco middle school students earned first-, second- and third-place finishes in the Technology Student Association (TSA) Regional Conference for Region 2. TSA is an organization dedicated to engaging students across the country in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities.
Solanco students' results in the TSA conference are as follows: Kara Peace, first place in Prepared Speech; Olivia Northern, second place in Digital Photography; Kristen Eckman, qualifier in Digital Photography; Hadley Evans, qualifier in Flight; Adam Wyatt, Jacob Trimble, and Dom Martin, third place in Video Game Design; John Cheek, third place in Coding; Paul Kocher, Melana Soto, and Kristen Eckman, second place in Off the Grid; and Brayden Swope and Kara Peace, qualifiers in Problem Solving. The Off the Grid team designed a home for a specific geographic location; the home had to be able to operate off the grid by using alternative means for heating, cooling and electricity.
The first place, second place and qualifier students are eligible for the Pennsylvania TSA State Conference in the spring. Other students who competed included Jorden Ross, Connor Yingst, Connor Ginger, Clayton Craig, Braighton Lenhart, and Kyle Keemer.
