Lampeter-Strasburg School District students recently participated in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) competitions.
Hans Herr Elementary's team took second place at the annual IU 13 Mini STEM Bowl for students in grade three. Led by Mrs. Baker, the team of Novia Bertrand, Elliot DeBruin, Matthew Martin, and Rachel Visniski competed by answering quiz bowl-style questions and taking on a design challenge.
Hans Herr Elementary's fourth- and fifth-grade team placed second overall at the 2019 Lancaster-Lebanon IU 13 Elementary STEM Bowl. The team earned the spot by answering six rounds of quiz bowl-style questions and competing in two design challenges. They were led by fourth-grade teacher Beth Hendrix and fifth-grade teacher Eric Balak.
Lampeter-Strasburg High School's team competed in the regional Pennsylvania Governor's STEM Competition and won first place in the Design Challenge, Project in a Box competition, as well as third place for the Overall Project.
