Students To Present "Cinderella"

The Lancaster Academy for the Performing Arts will present Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella" at Lancaster First Assembly of God, 1025 Columbia Ave., Lancaster, on Thursday and Friday, April 28 and 29, at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, April 30, at 1 and 7 p.m.

Directed by Daniel Stargel, who has over 17 years of professional theater experience, "Cinderella" features a cast of over 50 students from grades three to 12. Stargel chose to double-cast some of the roles, partly to ensure that roles were covered in case of last-minute illness and partly to allow students to understand the characterization process better by giving more students an opportunity to participate and learn from each other. Each performance will feature a different casting combination.

The students will present the Enchanted Edition of the show, which was made for film in 1997 and starred Whitney Houston and Brandy. Stargel noted that this edition includes many of the Rodgers & Hammerstein songs audience members may be familiar with.

On April 30, Tea With Cinderella events will be held at 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Attendees will partake in a formal tea experience, with guest appearances by many of the well-known characters in the cast. Tea tickets must be purchased by Friday, April 22.

Tickets for both the show and the tea may be purchased in advance at http://buy.tututix.com/lancasteracademy. Any remaining tickets may also be purchased at the door. Doors will open 45 minutes prior to show time, and all seats are general admission.
