Solanco students were recognized for their performances in a Model United Nations (UN) contest that featured timely scenarios. According to Model UN coach Caley Roak, Danielle Drumm won the Chairman's Award in the Strategic Response Team, representing Iran in a simulation of a Middle East oil crisis.

Brandon Daniel-Morales won the Chairman's Award for his work in the Historical Crisis Committee. Brandon represented Sen. John Kerry in a simulation of the United States government following the events of Sept. 11, 2001.

Andrew Craig won the Chairman's Award for his work representing Norway in the World Health Organization.
