Summer Park Programs Set

Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer programs to the community. Unless otherwise noted, there is a per-person fee, and activities will take place at the Environmental Center in Lancaster County Central Park, 1 Nature's Way, Lancaster. Additionally, registration and payment are required by noon on the business day before the event. GPS Tic-Tac-Toe for people of all ages will be offered from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the patio in the Garden of Five Senses, 38 Pontz Drive, Lancaster, on Friday, July 16. Using handheld GPS unit, participants will choose the geocaches to seek to complete three in a row or find all the geocaches on their tic-tac-toe cards. Participants should dress for the weather and prepare to venture onto rough trails as well as into fields in their quest. They should bring a bottle of water. Registration should include the number of GPS units needed. A driver's license or keys will be held until the units are returned.

Nature Journal Making and Leave No Trace Hiking will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 17. The program is open to individuals age 8 and older. A naturalist will show participants how to make a nature journal using everyday items, and then participants will be guided on a hike emphasizing leaving no trace.

Munchkin Science: Fishing will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, at Strasburg Borough Pond, 109 S. Jackson St., Strasburg. Participants will have a chance to fish using their own pole and worm on the hook. Instruction will be provided. This program is geared for children ages 3 to 5.
