Swartz Earns Doctorate

In December 2018, Adam Swartz, formerly of Manchester, earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from Duke University in Durham, N.C. Previously, Adam completed a bachelor's degree in life science at Pennsylvania State University in 2008 and a master's degree in biotechnology at Johns Hopkins University in 2011. As part of his dissertation research, Adam developed novel cancer vaccines for the treatment of glioblastoma; his vaccines will soon enter clinical testing.

Adam is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Duke University, where he is focused on creating improved immunotherapies for a variety of cancers. Adam is the son of Leesa and Steven Swartz of York and the husband of Hanqian Mao, Ph.D.
