Life Awakening Event Will Feature Comedian
Coming off the COVID-19 restrictions that marked the last several months, staff at Life Awakening made the decision that the organization's 13th annual fundraiser should be on the lighter side. With that goal in mind, they gave the event the theme "It's Time to Laugh Again" and engaged Christian comedian Gordon Douglas to entertain following a fruit and dessert bar that will include gluten- free options. Life Awakening will hold the fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 23, at Springside Barn, 1294 Weaverland Road, East Earl, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Douglas is a pastor and speaker, as well as a comedian, known for weaving life lessons into his programs and sharing what he has learned through tragic deaths, his wife's recovery from cancer, his dad's many years in a wheelchair, and other experiences. Douglas has previously performed in the New Holland area and at Life Awakening events. "We have had him two other times, and people really loved him, so we decided to bring him back," said Life Awakening executive director Linda Ingham.
In addition to the wit of Douglas the event will feature, Ingham talking about the Life Awakening Academy (LA Academy), a new training program that will premiere in January 2022 in order to teach people to use the Gospel Process. "God started downloading the Gospel Process to me (in 2007)," recalled Ingham. "The Gospel Process is a way to take people into freedom, healing, and victory beyond salvation and into abundant life." Ingham began writing books and manuals about the process and training others in how to use it. "I don't think there's a wound or a place of sin where the Gospel cannot reach," said Ingham, who recently completed preparing the Gospel Process materials for use by the LA Academy.
Miriam Remington, director of the LA Academy, will speak about turning the Gospel Process into a course that the organization eventually hopes to offer online. The Process has been divided into four phases that each build on each other. Phase one is the lifestyle seminar focused on breaking the damaging power of sin. Phase two begins teaching God's design for life in union with Christ. Phase three pertains to God's heart and plan for His children, and phase four explores the facilitator's role in the Process. In addition, YWAM missionaries Josiah and Kayla Shenk will discuss how they are using the Process in their ministry.
Readers who would like to attend the event are asked to make reservations by Wednesday, Sept. 15, by emailing chelsea@lifeawakening07.org or calling 717-354-2888. There is no charge to attend, but a freewill offering will be received.
