Taking Time To Give Thanks

"Godliness with contentment is great gain," the Apostle Paul wrote in his first letter to his protege, Timothy, and it has become one of the most famous Bible verses about contentment. The condition of being satisfied - contented - will be one of the themes of the Gathering of Worship and Gratitude hosted by churches in the Landisville-Manor District of LMC - a fellowship of Anabaptist churches, formerly known as Lancaster Mennonite Conference, on Sunday, Nov. 24.

The night of worship, reflection, prayer, and Holy Communion will be held at 7 p.m. around the tables in the fellowship hall of East Petersburg Mennonite Church, 6279 Main St., East Petersburg. Anyone interested in pausing during the busy holiday season is welcome to attend. In addition to contentment, the evening will explore commitment.

The Gathering of Worship and Gratitude is the result of the collaboration of Millersville Mennonite Church, Marietta Community Chapel, Mountville Mennonite Church, and East Petersburg Mennonite Church. Worship will be led by a team that is made up of representatives from each church, with the pastoral leaders in each church community also filling various roles throughout the night.

Refreshments will be provided. There is no cost to attend.

A schedule for the evening has been posted on the sharable event page, which may be found by visiting Facebook and searching for "Gathering of Worship and Gratitude: A Thanksgiving Gathering." Readers may also learn more by emailing eastpetemc@gmail.com or calling 717-569-9931.
