Teachers Win Impact Awards

Bart-Colerain Elementary third-grade teachers Greg and Sheila Schmitt have been chosen as recipients of WITF Teacher Impact Awards.

Teacher Impact Awards recognize educators who currently teach kindergarten through 12th grade in public or private schools in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties. Honorees are chosen for making a significance difference in the lives of their students. Students are strongly encouraged to nominate a teacher, but anyone may submit a nomination.

In her nomination letter, Bart-Colerain Elementary student Caroline Jayne wrote that she believes Greg and Sheila Schmitt are good teachers because they make students want to learn each day and they make learning fun. Caroline's parents, Tim and Courtney Jayne of Kirkwood, wrote that in addition to their daughter, the Schmitts have had a positive impact on their entire family. Bart-Colerain principal Sandra Haines also has high praise for the Schmitts.

Greg and Sheila are married to each other, but have separate classrooms.
