The Koser Jewelers $60,000 Tennis Challenge will return to Hempfield recCenter, 950 Church St., Landisville, from Monday, Aug. 5, to Sunday, Aug. 11, as top female players from around the world compete for the final wildcard entries into August's U.S. Open.
Tennis matches will begin on Monday, Aug. 5, with qualifying play while main draw play in both singles and doubles will kick off on Tuesday, Aug. 6. Semifinals will begin on Saturday, Aug. 10, and championship play in the Georgelis Tennis Stadium will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11. Participants of past events include current world No. 9 Sloane Stephens and former world No. 12 Sabine Lisicki.
In conjunction with the tournament, there will be a week of community events.
A Millennial Mixer will take place on Sunday, Aug. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. Presented by USTA Middle States and USPTA Middle States Division, the event will feature free music, beverages, food and tennis at the outdoor tennis courts.
Ladies Day will be offered on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature lunch, beverages, and vendors. Registration is required.
On Wednesday, Aug. 7, a free concert by Olivia Farabaugh, a former contestant on "The Voice," will follow the feature match at approximately 7 p.m.
A Young Professional Mixer will take place on Thursday, Aug. 8, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. during the feature match. The event will include music, cornhole, food, beverages, tennis, networking and giveaways. Registration is required.
Kids' Day, set for Friday, Aug. 9, will feature two sessions. The first session will run from 9 to 11 a.m. and feature on-court tennis activities with professional players. Child participants should be familiar with tennis. The second session will run from 1 to 3 p.m. and will include carnival games, face painting, and a meet-and-greet with players. Registration is required.
Super Saturday, Aug. 10, will feature a Net Generation demonstration and high school All-Star recognition in the Georgelis Tennis Stadium beginning at 11 a.m.
Championship Sunday, Aug. 11, will include USTA Membership Appreciation Day and a jewelry challenge giveaway in the Georgelis Tennis Stadium between matches beginning at 11 a.m.
Concessions will be available for purchase, and the Emerald Bar will offer beverages for sale to spectators who are over the age of 21 and have valid photo ID.
