Therapeutic Skating Program Slated

Hershey Figure Skating Club will offer a therapeutic skating program and the Wheels on Ice program beginning on Monday, July 8, at 5 p.m. at the Hersheypark Arena, 100 W. Hersheypark Drive, Hershey. The five-week session is for adults and children who have developmental disabilities or who are recovering from an injury.

In the therapeutic skating program, skaters will be paired with their own volunteer buddy and work at their own pace under the guidance of a USFSA-certified coach. Participants should bring a bike helmet or hockey helmet. Walkers will be provided for those who need one.

The Wheels on Ice program allows those in wheelchairs to experience ice skating either independently or with an on-ice buddy.

There is a fee for the series, plus an annual Learn-to-Skate USA membership fee. Parking is free. For registration and information, readers may visit https://hersheyfigureskating.org/therapeutic or email hersheyfigureskate@gmail.com.
