"Through the Door," an exhibit from local artist Gail Whatmore, will be on display in the North Gallery at Mulberry Art Studios during the month of December. The public is invited to meet the artist at a First Friday opening reception on Dec. 6 from 5 to 9 p.m. Mulberry Art Studios is located at 19-21 N. Mulberry St., Lancaster, and holds regular gallery hours on weekdays.
Whatmore, a native of Lancaster County, has always had a love for the arts, which she inherited from her father, whose intricate works still hang in her family's home. Following graduation, Whatmore pursued a career in business. However, while she was working with her own three children during their school years, she found herself drawn back to the arts.
The inspiration for the "Through the Door" collection is the Christmas season. Whatmore enjoyed depicting Saint Nicholas in different eras and incorporating artists of that same time period in the scene.
