Connell Travis, grandson of Ralph and Jane Travis of Fawn Grove, was chosen for First Chair Trumpet for the All-Illinois Junior Band. Connell is the son of Bryen and Michele Travis of Bloomingdale, Ill.
The concert took place at the University of Illinois in Urbana, Ill., on Feb. 9. Connell played solos in "Odysseus and the Sirens" and "Shenandoah" from "American Riversongs."
Connell,13, is an eighth-grader at Westfield Middle School in Bloomingdale.
