The annual Lititz recCenter Triathlon took place on Aug. 9 with 154 participants. The triathlon has gained a solid following among competitors mainly from southeastern and southcentral Pennsylvania.
This year's event was smaller than in the past, allowing some modifications to keep competitors spaced out from start to finish. The event takes place each August with swimming at the Lititz Springs Pool, a bike course through residential borough and township areas, and a running course around Lititz recCenter and through nearby neighborhoods.
Among the top finishers were Eric Reichert of Elizabethtown as top overall male with a time of 1:02 just ahead of Daryl Weaver of Lititz with a time of 1:04. The top overall female was Sam Snukis at 1:08:20 of Stowe with a close second at 1:08:53 by Aimee Taylor of Lititz. Nine teams competed in this year event, with the Moving Averages team coming out ahead.
Additionally, six age group top finishers were recognized. Nate Kimmel and Ella Wolfe took tops in the youngest age bracket and Don Acker and Bonnie Stoeckl timed the lowest in the over 60 age group.
Approximately 50 volunteers helped to make the event a success. Proceeds from the event will support year-round programs for youths and adults of all ages at Lititz recCenter. To view the complete results, readers may visit http://www.lititzrec.com/special-events/annual-triathlon/.
