UZRC Recognizes Employees

United Zion Retirement Community (UZRC) honored nine employees during its annual Service Awards luncheon and dessert social on Jan. 30. The nine employees have invested more than 112 years of service between them. According to CEO Sue Verdegem, the employees were honored for demonstrating United Zion's core values, including respect, excellence, and integrity.

First honored was registered nurse Nancy Wright, who is retiring from full-time work at UZRC after 37 years of service. Her colleagues and supervisors recognized her leadership skills, as well as her dedication to serving residents with compassion.

Department supervisors recognized eight employees reaching key service milestones. In 2018, four employees reached five years of service: Alicia Bender, Nursing Services; Julia Grodzicki, Nursing Services; Alexandra Plaisance, Nursing Services;and Breana Kattau, Food and Nutrition. Another four employees received awards for 10 years of service or longer: Jackie Hossler, 10 years, Nursing Services; Rose Martin, 10 years, Nursing Services; Tammy Ruhl, 15 years, Environmental Services; and Jane Laager, 20 years, Life Enrichment.

UZRC, 722 Furnace Hills Pike, just north of downtown Lititz, offers independent living cottages and apartments, personal care services, and skilled nursing care for long-term care and short-term rehabilitation. Established in 1905, the nonprofit community has a mission to provide quality services to the aging, based on Christian principles, in a loving and caring community encouraging independence, promoting wellness, and preserving human dignity.
