One hundred thirteen veterans of the World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Cold War, Gulf War and War on Terror eras gathered at Northeastern High School for the 16th Honor Bus trip on Nov. 23, 2019.
The trip, offered as a token of gratitude for the veterans' service, was sponsored by the Northeastern High School Honor Bus Project. This group of students escorts local veterans on all-expenses-paid trips to Washington, D.C., to visit the various memorials dedicated to their service. While in Washington in November, veterans also visited Arlington National Cemetery to witness the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns. All participants received breakfast and a bag lunch as well as a banquet upon return to Northeastern High School.
The 17th Honor Bus trip will take place on Saturday, April 18, and is open to all veterans of the World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Cold War, Gulf War, and War on Terror time periods. Anyone who has served in the military, regardless of time, conflict or peacetime service, foreign deployment or stateside service, is welcome to participate in the trip.
