A virtual session of "Effective Communication Strategies" will be presented by the Alzheimer's Association in partnership with the Heritage of Green Hills, Shillington. The free session will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Attendees will learn how communication is more than just talking and listening; it is also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice and body language. As the disease progresses, individuals living with Alzheimer's or other dementias lose the ability to use words, but families can find new ways to connect.
Participants will explore how communication changes when someone is living with Alzheimer's, learn how to interpret the verbal and behavioral communication and identify strategies to help them connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.
Registration is required by calling 800-272-3900 or visiting https://action.alz.org/mtg/76099171.
