Volunteers Clean Up Litter

The Donegal Democratic Committee of Lancaster County and local friends celebrated the arrival of spring and Earth Day by completing the committee's first PennDOT Adopt-A-Highway Litter Cleanup on state Route 743 in East Donegal Township through Maytown. The event was held on April 24 at 9 a.m. Through social media posts, members of the public were invited to participate.

A total of 12 volunteers of all ages donned safety vests and traveled to Route 743 from Route 441 and onward to Donegal Springs Road. In total, approximately 15 bags of trash were collected from the roadway and properly disposed of by PennDOT. Many local residents expressed gratitude for the volunteers' efforts.

The event and roadway adoption was organized by Maytown-area resident Bradley M. Mikitko. Another cleanup is schedule do be held later this year.
