Vision Resources of Central Pennsylvania (VROCP) reminds the public that it provides streaming audio services, with programming selected for the visually impaired.
Unique programming is offered each weekday starting at 9 a.m. with two hours of local and state news. The next two hours, the service features a variety of informational programs, including "Senior News," "The Travel Hour," pharmacy and grocery advertisements, and news. The final two hours provide music- and entertainment-related programming, including Smithsonian Folkways recordings on Tuesdays and Thursdays, special guest interviews, and a final hour of "Bookworm" readings from current popular novels. Each daily six-hour block is repeated throughout a 24-hour cycle.
On the weekend, the service continues to provide information and entertainment with programs from the previous week and several selected just for weekend listening.
The streaming is made available due to the efforts of dozens of weekly reading volunteers, hundreds of contributions from VROCP donors, grants from organizations like Community Aid Inc., and local businesses supporting the service with underwriting.
People both sighted and not are invited to listen by visiting http://www.vrocp.org and clicking "Listen Live" on the right side of the page. To learn more about VROCP Audio Services, volunteering or underwriting opportunities, readers may call 717-238-2531.
