The Arts at Millersville University We The People First Friday will present "Speak to My Soul Live at the Red Rose" on June 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster. Curated by Evita Colón, the event will showcase local talent in live art, music, dance, and poetry. The event intersects creativity and community in celebration of the city, its people, and all that passes through. Admission is free. The doors to Steinman Hall will open at 6 p.m.
The event will also showcase three new art exhibits. Opening in the Lyet Lobby from 6 to 8 p.m. is "Brandon Malone: DJ's Sampling & MC's Rambling," featuring the photographer and graphic artist's street portraiture of two favorite subjects: musicians and skateboarders. Also opening in the lobby is "Gracie Berry: Shadowkeepers & Roothealers 'The Original OG's,'" an homage and Afro-futurist altar to the original Orisha gods from the Yoruba culture of west Afrika.
In the Regitz Gallery, Lancaster Summer Arts Festival will present "Expanded Visions," the annual, juried exhibition that embraces all forms of photography from the traditional darkroom to the digital image. The exhibition will present works by photographers from the local region.
Admission to the exhibits is free. All exhibits will be on display through Friday, June 24; the exhibits may be viewed during business hours on most Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some exceptions. Visit http://www.artsmu.com for more information on building hours.
