Washington-Walker Named Director

Janique Washington-Walker has been promoted as the assistant executive director for the Children's Aid Society (CAS).

Washington-Walker is a licensed professional counselor and certified trauma therapist. She has a Ph.D. in rehabilitation counseling and counselor education, a Master of Science in community agency counseling, a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, and a certificate in behavioral medicine from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She is also the recipient of the Langston University Rehabilitation Research and Training Center Doctoral Fellowship. Her research has focused on topics such as trauma, adverse childhood experiences, vocational rehabilitation service compliance, the impact of the deployment cycle on military families, and the effect of chronic pain on work performance. She has published manuscripts in the Journal of Applied Rehabilitation Counseling and the Journal of Rehabilitation, Research, Policy, and Education.

Washington-Walker enjoys spending time with her husband, Fred, and their two children, Amaiya and Brianna. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Her hobbies include reading, serving in her church, and writing professional publications.

The Children's Aid Society Southern PA District Church of the Brethren is a nonprofit organization with centers located in Chambersburg, New Oxford, and York. CAS provides child-centered art and play therapy, individual counseling for children and adolescents ages 2 to 18, referral services, community education, support groups, the God's Closet free children's clothing bank, emergency respite care for children 2 to 6 years of age in a 24-hour crisis nursery, family advocacy, and a parent support group.
