Weis Markets recently got involved with the West York Area School District's Summer Lunch Program at the middle school. Leigh Lauer, Weis marketing event ambassador, played a food bingo game with attendees and handed out fruit and activity books. A representative of Weis is scheduled to visit later in July for a Christmas in July program and again in August to make homemade butter with the children.
The Summer Lunch Program is available to all children and youths age 18 and under. The program is free, and children do not need to be West York Area School District students to attend. No registration is required. Lunch is available on Mondays through Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at West York Area Middle School, 1700 Bannister St., York.
