WellSpan Will Offer Programs

WellSpan is sponsoring several upcoming programs. Registration and fees apply unless otherwise noted.

"Surgery for Weight Loss" will be a free seminar held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, at the WellSpan Ephrata Health Pavilion, 175 Martin Ave., Ephrata. It will provide an overview of the WellSpan Bariatric Surgery program, including preoperative education and surgical procedures, medical weight management, and patient expectations and outcomes. The Cancer Support Group willl meet from 3 to 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, at the WellSpan Ephrata Cancer Center, 460 N. Reading Road, Ephrata. This month's topic will be "What Is a Medical Power of Attorney and Living Will?" Meetings are held in the large conference room, with registration required by calling 717-721-4835.

WellSpan offers a variety of wellness classes. Fees have been set, with registration available by calling 717-721-8790. Basic Life Support - CPR will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on April 17 at the WellSpan Cocalico Health Center, 63 W. Church St., Stevens. Heartsaver Adult, Child and Infant CPR With AED Training will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, at the WellSpan Cocalico Health Center. Heartsaver First Aid will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, at the WellSpan Cocalico Health Center. A grocery store tour will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, April 15, at Yoder's Country Market, 14 S. Tower Road, New Holland. At this event, a WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital registered dietitian will share how to read food labels, save money and make healthier choices.

"Taking Charge of Your Diabetes" will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays from April 24 to May 29, at the WellSpan Cocalico Health Center. The program will teach day-to-day skills for better blood sugar control and include 10 hours of group instruction, initial assessment and follow-up.
