The York Women's Association (YWA) recently donated school supplies and a monetary gift to the Children's Home of York. YWA president Beth Jacoby presented the items to Christine Dombrosky of the Children's Home of York. The contributions were collected at the group's annual summer social at William C. Kain Park.
The next regular York YWA meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 14, at 6:15 p.m. at Kain Park, 274 Hess Farm Road, York. During the meeting, new officers will be installed. The theme of the meeting will be "Mexican Fiesta," and light refreshments will be provided. Prospective members are invited to attend. YWA is an all-volunteer, nonprofit women's organization with a mission to promote educational and cultural interests, to further civic improvements, to engage in philanthropic activities, and to promote social activities that provide lasting friendships. Membership is open to women age 18 and older who reside in York County.
Members also participate in various other activities, including volunteering at the York County Food Bank, Our Daily Bread, and the York County Literacy Program, as well as participation in the Canasta Club, Book Club, Travelling Lunch Ladies, Steppin' Out, and Gourmet Club.
