World War II Roundtable Sets Meeting

The Central Pennsylvania World War II Roundtable will hold its next monthly meeting online via Zoom on Thursday, May 6, at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be author Alex Kershaw.

Kershaw is a journalist, a public speaker, and the author of 10 books, including "The Bedford Boys," "The Longest Winter," "The Few," and "The Liberator," which is the basis for a 2020 Netflix original series.

"The Liberator," the subject of Kershaw's presentation, traces the wartime journey of U.S. Army officer Felix Sparks, a member of the Thunderbird Division. His 500-day odyssey took him from the beaches of Sicily; through the mountains of Italy and France; into Germany, where he and his division endured a harsh winter fighting SS troops; and eventually to the gates of Dachau concentration camp.

Born in York, England, Kershaw is a graduate of Oxford University. He taught history before working as a journalist for several British newspapers, including The Guardian, The Independent, and The Sunday Times. He currently lives in Savannah, Ga.

The Zoom meeting is open to the public, and no registration is required. To attend, readers may visit http://www.centralpaww2roundtable.org.
