YCAS Will Host Presentation

Dec 11, 2021 - 7:00 pm

The York County Astronomical Society (YCAS) will offer a presentation at its observatory at John C. Rudy County Park, 400 Mundis Race Road, York, on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 7 to 10 p.m. The presentation will be held outside the observatory using a large projection screen system.

The evening will start with "The James Webb Space Telescope - A New Cosmic Journey Begins" with Dr. Swara Ravindranath from the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore discussing, via Zoom, the telescope's key science goals. Guests will then be guided on a tour of the sky through one of the club's telescopes. Guests may bring their own telescope, if they have one.

Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and dress warmly. A food truck will be on-site selling hot Italian dishes.

If it is clear, all activities will occur as scheduled. If it is completely cloudy or raining, the indoor activity of a screen astronomical presentation will occur as scheduled. In the event of extreme weather, call 717-759-9227 for notice of cancellation or visit the YCAS page at http://www.facebook.com.
